An outgrowth of TeamChild was the recognition that
the needs of girls within the juvenile justice system were being
ignored. CCA formed the Girls Juvenile Justice Project to promote
gender responsive policies and practices and alternatives to incarceration.
CCA has helped to secure legislation requiring gender specific programming,
the development of a girls' juvenile justice plan, and the prevention
of incarceration for status offenders.
