Deputy Director CCA; Director, Medical-Legal Partnership Project
Jay has directed the Center’s Medical-Legal Partnership
Project since April, 2000, overseeing the growth of the project
from its beginnings as only the second program of its kind in the
country, with an office at the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center,
to presently serving 90% of Hartford’s needy children and families
with offices at CCMC, Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center,
Charter Oak Health Clinic, and Community Health Services, as well
as providing consultation and referral services to patients of the
Hospital of Central Connecticut. Prior to this appointment, Jay
was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Law at University of Connecticut
School of Law, teaching lawyering skills, and social welfare law.
He was also a senior staff attorney at the Legal Aid Society’s Bronx
Neighborhood Office for six years, as well as a private practitioner
in Boston. He currently holds the position of Adjunct Professor
of Law at the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he
teaches courses in legal ethics and professional responsibility
and Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Connecticut
School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics.
